Olivia already had excellent UX skills 📱. The project with us gave her an opportunity to exercise these skills over a full lifecycle: domain research, expert interviews, study design, participant management, study deployment, and co-design. This is a lot to cover and get hands-on experience with in 6 months. In addition, Olivia really took to understanding the context of digital mental health and depression to run the study effectively.
Olivia's greatest strengths are in some fundamental qualities. She is extremely competent in acquiring new specialized knowledge 🧠 (e.g., digital phenotyping), organizing that knowledge 🗂️, and then synthesizing it in a way that other stakeholders---such as collaborators and participants---can appreciate it 🫂 . Due to these qualities, she was practically running the study on her own once the timeline was set. She has been able to reconcile ideas from various perspectives and incorporate that into our research prototype and study protocol.
Her maturity at her age and stage is far beyond her peers. I could tell she is creative from her portfolio, but her ability to process and react to feedback 💬 shows she will be successful.

Olivia regularly seeks feedback 💬 on work outputs, and if/when her designs need a second draft she takes feedback well and acts on learnings to create an even better end product. She immediately excelled at generating ideas and insights 💡 during the wireframing phase. Throughout her internship, she has learned about how to take ambiguous design prompts, turn them into wireframes, and ultimately finalized designs. Her attention to detail 🖼️ is also a strength as demonstrated by her ability to quickly and accurately convert also a strength as demonstrated by her ability to quickly and accurately convert iOS designs into Android versions and her utilization of the design system.
Several times during her internship project priorities shifted or we had to pivot our strategy (as is so common in agency life) Olivia handled these challenges very well and maintained a positive outlook in the face of ambiguity. Olivia’s flexibility and ability to adapt to changing circumstances 🤸♀️ is one of her greatest strengths.

I was impressed not only by the screens she designed, but by the questions she asked prior to even opening Figma. Her desire to better understand the business AND user needs 👤 shown through.
Olivia has proven that she's very capable of working within Figma to work alongside fast moving teams 🏃🏻♀️ that are creating highly polished visual designs 🎨 for actual clients. In the case of her helping with the Millennium Trust project, she met her deadlines while managing to conduct UX research on existing experiences to better inform her work. She proactively checked in with senior members 🗣️ of the team to elicit feedback and make sure that her work was client-ready. When she had the capacity for more work, she raised her hand and alerted the team.
